Tae Kyung's Graduation and New Position

Our esteemed member, Tae Kyung walked at the commencement ceremony last February.  She has been selected as a full-time researcher at STEPI and starts her new position on May 1st.  Congratulations!

Prof. Choi's photo work has been selected for the cover image of the December issue of The Gerontologist.  She is thrilled that the photo has contributed to the diversity in the representation of the aging population.

Tae Kyung's Defense of Her Master's Thesis

Tae Kyung successfully defended her master's thesis entitled, "Older Adults' Perspectives on Personal and Health Information Sharing in Relation to the Adoption of Healthcare Technology" on October 19th, 2017 and presented the findings at  the 2017 Annual Fall Conference of the Korean Association for Information Society (한국정보사회학회 추계학술대회) on November 17.  Congratulations, Tae Kyung!

Presentation at the International Conference on Data-Driven Health Care

Prof. Choi and Tae Kyung gave a presentation entitled, "Factors influencing older adults’ willingness to share their information in data-based health care innovation" at the International Conference on Data-Driven Health Care organized by Ewha Institute for Biomedical Law & Ethics and Korea Health Industry Development Institute in Seoul on September 23rd, 2017.

"Technopolis for All Ages" at Daejeon Global Innovation Forum

A special session on "Technopolis for All Ages" was organized by Prof. Choi at the Global Innovation Forum with the partnership of Daejeon Metropolitan City--leading the World Technopolis Association, and UNESCO on Wednesday, September 13.  To see the details, visit at GIF Program.

A livable city for all ages considering the human lifecycle is the main theme of the Thematic Special Session A. At the Session, we are going to share cases and discuss on strategies of the urban planning and health and welfare services in consideration of the features of Technopolises. The session is going to provide introduction to the cases and discussion on the model of Global Network of Age-friendly Cities initiated by the World Health Organization(WHO), the living lab project “Walk-friendly City Seoul”, and social innovation in Silicon Valley.

International Seminar on Gender Tech from the Life Course Perspective

We had an international seminar with the theme of "Gender Tech from the Life Course Perspective" with the partnership of the United Nations University Institute on Computing and Society (UNU-CS) at KAIST on August 10th, 2017.   Dr. Araba Sey, UNU-CS Principal Research Fellow visited KAIST STP  from 8/7-11 and continued to carry out the collaborative research project with AT Policy Lab.  Her visit and our seminar were featured on the website of UNU-CS

Presentation at IAGG 2017, San Francisco, CA

Jung-Min gave her first presentation at an international peer-reviewed conference with Prof. Choi!  Congratulations, Jung-Min!   

A poster entitled, "WHO Age Friendly Cities and Communities: The Korean experience" was presented at the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) in San Francisco, CA on July 24th, 2017.  IAGG is the largest conference on aging in the world and held every four years.  This year approximately 6,000 gerontologists got together in San Francisco.

Visit to the UN University Computing & Society

Three members of AT Policy Lab visited the UNU-CS and had a lively seminar and research meetings for two weeks. This visit was featured on the website of UNU-CS:  http://cs.unu.edu/news/kaists-cooperation-seminar/

We will carry forward a collaborative research project on "Gender Tech from the Life Course Perspective" with the UNU-CS.

Jung-Min gave a presentation entitled, "WHO Age Friendly Cities and Communities: The Korean Experience" with Prof. Choi at China-Korea S&T Policy Workshop jointly organized by KAIST STP and Tsinghua University School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM) in Beijing on June 23, 2017.

Sungjae is currently doing a community-based participatory research, living with older couples in Seoul, as a part of our research project funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea for the spring semester of 2017.   He gave a presentation about his experience at the Seoul 50 Plus Foundation on June 14th, and it was featured in the tbs news:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUumdjpXyDM
